Hi, I'm Bobby and this is Max
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Hello! ????????
And we work at Resilience Enterprises.
Bobby
Bobby
So today we just wanted to chat about when we meet people for the first time.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Because our job is to help people and their teams see how they can live their best lives.
Max
Max
So sometimes we have to ask them some questions.
Max
Max
So let's say we had Jerry. And Jerry came to visit us.
Max
Max
And we've never met Jerry.
What kinds of things would we ask him, Bobby?
We would ask Jerry what he wants. That's important.
Bobby
Bobby
We would also let Jerry know that if maybe we aren't doing something that he likes, he can tell us or he can tell other people.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So that's like making a complaint, isn't it?
Max
Max
Why is it important for somebody to be able to make a complaint?
Because if someone isn't doing something that they like, or something isn't working for them, there are ways to tell other people and maybe get something done about it.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So they can talk about it!
Yep ????
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
That's good to know.
So could they talk to me?
They could talk to you!
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Who else could they talk to?
They could talk to their worker.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So if Jerry came in to an appointment with a support worker, he could talk to his support worker?
Yes! Or Jerry could talk to his guardian or family.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So there's actually a few people.
A support worker.
A support coordinator.
A family member.
Or even a friend?
Yeah!
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Are there any organisations Jerry could talk to?
Yes! So obviously there's the NDIS.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So that's the organisation that pays for our jobs. And some other people's jobs too, doesn't it?
???? Yep!
Or there's a few advocacy services around.
Bobby
Bobby
An advocate is someone who can take the complaint on your behalf.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
So if Jerry had a problem and didn't want to talk to someone who's paid to work next to him, he could talk to an advocate, couldn't he?
Yes, he could!
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
And we have a list of advocates, don't we? Because it's a lot to remember.
Max
Max
I wonder if it's always okay to ask us, like if people don't remember something because it's easy to forget? ????
It is okay to ask us. ????
That's about their right as a person.
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Yeah, because rights are important.
A right is when someone listens to us. ????
Max
Max
And they think about what's important for us. ????
Max
Max
And what we're allowed to do and what we CAN do - as grown-ups or as young people as well.
Max
Max
Is there anything else that we need to think about?
I think that's it.
Also if something happens outside of us... always talk about it. ????
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
And if people have any questions they can ask us, or any of the other people that we talked about.
????‍♀️????????‍♂️
They can!
Bobby
Bobby
Max
Max
Awesome! ????
Thanks, Bobby.
We'll see you guys later!
