Hello, my names Melanie, but you can call me Mel! I’m originally from Victoria but am based in Cairns.

I’m a Nurse Practitioner here at Resilience. My job role involves Health Assessment and Complex Case management.

One of the greatest sources of enjoyment at work is seeing clients living their life to the fullest, in the healthiest way possible. Making a connection with my clients and seeing a smile – knowing I have helped improve their life even if it’s only in a small way, is one of the greatest feelings.

I’m passionate about child and women’s health. But I also love working with a variety of people from all walks of life. The best part about my job is the variety of clients I see, and that every day is different.

My colleagues would describe me as passionate and structured with a big heart.

There are several memorable moments in my career. It’s the small personal moments for me, there is no one key moment. It is seeing someone empowered to continue to improve their health or come through to the other side of a challenging time either physically or mentally.

My hobbies outside of work include various craft activities including quilting, embroidery, cross stitch and bobbin lace. I also play tenor drum and bagpipes in the local Scottish pipe band. My interest in genetic genealogy has led me to become a licensed private investigator, which I do in my spare time.

I’m motivated by helping people to live long happy healthy lives, connected to family and the community.
