Hello, I’m Rebecca! I’m originally from Townsville, but now live in Cairns.
I am a counsellor and specialist educator at Resilience Enterprises.
My role involves talking and educating staff, support workers and clients about sexological issues, like bodies, puberty, sexuality, gender and consent. I also create training and tools for support workers.
I’m passionate about sexuality education and face to face sessions with participants.
One of the greatest sources of enjoyment at work is teaching participants about topics that others will rarely speak to them about.
The best part about my job is the staff I work with, how empowering my position is and how I can make a difference to vulnerable people.
The most memorable moment of my career happens in most sessions, when participants exclaim “I never knew that!” about a bodily fact.
My colleagues would describe me as very knowledgeable, and as their go to person.
My hobbies include Latin dancing, going on strolls, cooking and reading.
My main motivation in life is seeing positive change in society, even if that’s in small ways.
